Halle is a city that moves, lives and inspires. The Villa Servais is the ideal venue for a concert, exhibition, vernissage or theatrical performance. The beautiful Salle de Musique, with its large windows and stunning garden, is a true source of inspiration for artists. Would you like to hire the room for an artistic activity or display your sculptures in the garden?

Our B&B also offers a range of cultural events: the Halle Carnival, the Soldiers’ Procession in Lembeek, the Marian Procession, the Hyacinth Festival and, of course, the Queen Elisabeth Competition.

From Villa Servais you can easily reach the Grande Place in ten minutes via Basiliekstraat, where you will find the statue of François Servais made by the sculptor Cyprien Godebski as well as the beautiful Gothic Basilica of Saint-Martin. The Art-Deco Saint-Roch church, known as “The Concrete Church”, has also been completely restored and is definitely worth the detour. In May, Halle, also known as Mariastad, becomes a thriving pilgrimage site and many pilgrims visit the imposing basilica and the statue of the Black Madonna.

Near the villa, you will find the regional museum Den Ast, where we find many souvenirs around the figure of François Servais and the cultural center ‘t Vondel.

Want to dive into history? So definitely plan a visit to Beersel Castle, Gaasbeek Castle, or the Malakoff Tower in Lembeek, the home of writer Herman Teirlinck or the estate of painter Félix De Boeck.

Or how about a walk to the Smeerhout in Buizingen where you stroll along beautiful places which partly formed the backdrop for the VRT series ‘Witse’, a visit to local produce center Halle or to Brouwerij Boon, the Belgian lambic brewery in Lembeek, which has already won numerous international awards with its incomparable Geuze. Geert’s recommendation:The 14 km pine marten walk along winding paths between the Zenne, the Malakoff estate, the Maasdalbos, the Lembeekbos, the Warandepark, the Berendries and the Hallerbos.

 

Sports, cycling and walking routes

Halle is the city par excellence for sportsmen and nature lovers. In addition to the numerous cycling and walking routes, the city has a wide range of leisure and relaxation infrastructure. There you will find the De Bres sports complex and its athletics track, the Sportoase Hallebad municipal swimming pool (with fitness room) and, about ten minutes by car, the provincial domain of Huizingen and many other pleasant places to discover during a recreational afternoon. During the summer months, several boat excursions are organized to the Ronquières inclined plane. The boarding point is a few steps from Villa Servais. There are several options where you can even take your bike.

Walking routes

The town of Halle owes its name to the Germanic word halha which means no less than “bend in the highlands”. With this, everything is said! This welcoming town in the Zenne valley and Pajottenland is the ideal starting point for discovering the beautiful region along varied hiking trails, admiring the heritage and soaking up our rich culture.

Cycling routes

Villa Servais in the center of Halle is the ideal starting point for exploring the hilly landscapes of the Zenne valley and Pajottenland by bike. You can bring your own two-wheeler or rent a regular bike or an electric bike through us. We ask you to indicate this in the reservation module so that we can provide the requested bikes on time. There is also a charging station for electric bikes at Villa Servais.

Via the F20 cycle path you can easily reach the capital by bike via the towpath along the canal to Charleroi.
